Sunday Club meets (as you may expect!) on Sunday
mornings during service time. Usually the chiuldren and their leaders and
helpers join the rest of the congregation for the first 15
minutes or so of the service, which generally includes a children's hymn and
a short talk, aimed specifically at the children. Occasionally, when
communion is being celebrated, the children join the adults towrds the end
of the service, enabling them to receive communion or a blessing.
Children or young people of any age are most
welcome at our sessions, which generally begin with a time of sharing and
singing, after which we divide into age groups for further activities. We
seek to learn about God and his ways and the children are involved in drama,
games and craft-work. The children can then take with them Scripture Unon
leaflets to remind them of what we have shared together. The session ends
with refreshments.
Three or four times a year, the children are
invited to bring along friends to a more informal session - a Social Sunday.
On such days, all children join in the first part of the service as usual
and then enjoy fun, games and refreshments together - the more the merrier.
Face-painting, biscuit and cake decorating are always popular and there are
more active pursuits as well. Christmas and Easter, especially, enable the
children to participate in All-Age worship, always with a selection of
child-based activities |
