Elders

This page is being reviewed.

The Elders are elected by the Church Meeting and ordained for life to serve the Church. They support and share the pastoral care and spiritual outreach of the church with the minister and have overall responsibility for the work and mission to children and young people. They also oversee all matters concerning membership, social events and make sure public worship and the sacraments are held regularly.

The current Elders of our church are:

I have been actively worshipping at Trinity since 2017. I own my own Dog/Pet Sitting Business locally and have lived in Knebworth since 2012. I am involved in scouting at a national Level, and I have completed some training to become part of the worship leading team at Trinity.

As well as being an Elder I am in charge of Prayer Ministry and Time for Prayer. In my spare time I enjoy taking part in dance and spotting red kites.

I am a worship leader, ecumenically-minded, enjoying and encouraging fellowship wherever possible. I love foreign languages, travelling, tennis, swimming, gardening, reading, and especially looking after our grandchildren. Enough to keep me busy in retirement!   Born in Nigeria I came to England aged 13, the main aim to do my GCSEs having attended an American school in Nigeria.  I lived in St Albans and attended Spicer Street church which helped to shape my faith to what it is today.  I finished school and college in 1993 and began work with an insurance company in Watford as an underwriter.  I stayed in the finance industry and joined Ashley in the family business in 2002 where I remain.  I joined Trinity in 1997 when I met Emma and have been a member ever since.  My proudest achievements are my two daughters and amazing wife!

My name is Kate and I have been a member at Trinity for about 15 years. I am a Methodist Local preacher so lead services at Trinity and across the area. I have been involved with One Truth youth since its inception and it has been a pleasure watching its members blossom into young adults.  I am also involved with the safeguarding and hiring groups. I have previously served as an Elder but am looking forward to the opportunity to serve the church in this new chapter of church life. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends, eating out and musical theatre.   My name is Kathy. I’ve been an elder at Trinity for over ten years. There have been many changes but one thing remains. At Trinity we are open to all, happy to try new ideas and different forms of worship. We work together as a team with all our various talents to bring the word of God to the wider community, using social events and open days. We encourage our younger members to take part in worship and other activities. Elders manage the church and support the management team. We may be few in number but together we are a strong team. I am looking forward to a new term of eldership.

I enjoy all types of craft and love learning new skills. On a personal note, I am married and have two children, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who bring me great joy. I look forward to serving our church family and supporting our church community in any way I can.   Hi I am Jackie a one of the new team of elders I hopefully bring to the team life experience and as a mother of 4 grown up children and with 5 grandchildren very little surprises me now or can’t be made a little better with a cup of tea and if there’s cake available even better, I am a local preacher and lead services in both the Methodist and United Reformed churches. As I go to other churches, I sometimes see new ideas which   I think would be good to share with Trinity e.g the peace candle we now light during every service. I’m happy to take on new challenges and have a lively sense of adventure usually for good causes. I also enjoy reading walking and jogging.

I am a science teacher, a wife and a proud mother of two lovely children. Outside of church and work, I enjoy watching and playing tennis with my family, as well as walking, travelling, and discovering new places.
I have been a member of Trinity Church for over 10 years, during which time I have had the privilege of serving as an elder and a worship leader. These have been extremely rewarding experiences and opportunities to grow in my faith. I am grateful for the blesssings of family, faith and fellowship, and I look forward to continuing in service within our church community.
I have a background in electronics, so I am very much involved with the maintenance and procurement of the church’s audio/visual equipment, computers and electronic keyboard instruments. I’m also a committed amateur musician and regularly play the clarinet in services together with our regular pianists.

In addition, the meetings of the Church Elders are attended by the Church Treasurer.

I was born in Cornwall and grew up in Portreath and Camborne. Scouting was a formative part of my early life: I joined at 8 and later enjoyed giving back as a leader and volunteer in Group and District roles. In 1964 I met Sue, we married in 1968 and are blessed with two children, Jo-Anne and James Michael and their families. Sue was already active in the Methodist Church when we met, and through her I came to share that commitment and became a member too. Since retiring from a 41-year career in government science at a Ministry of Defence outstation, Sue and I have made our home in Bradbury End Stevenage, where we moved to be closer to our children. Along the way, we have been grateful to belong to several Methodist, URC and ecumenical church communities, where I have served in roles including Treasurer, Property Steward, Church Steward and Serving Elder.
